CDW Innovation Centre: A Human-Centered Immersive Experience

Waves system > Actualités > Use cases > CDW Innovation Centre: A Human-Centered Immersive Experience

At the heart of the CDW Innovation Centre project, the goal was never to create a technology showcase but rather to deliver an immersive experience for visitors.

Inspired by the interactive environments found in museums and visitor attractions, the center aimed to create a space where every interaction could trigger a seamless orchestration of visuals, sound, lighting, and storytelling. Here, technology serves as a tool, never the focal point.

To bring this vision to life, a “digital nervous system” was needed—one capable of managing the entire environment: a robust, flexible, and centralized CMS platform. This is how the digital canvas was born, a fully orchestrated space that allows stories, journeys, and outcomes to be tailored for every audience.

Challenge

What was the context of your project and the challenges you faced?

The primary challenge was designing a space where technology fades into the background, allowing the experience to take center stage. Key requirements included:

  • Creating a modular environment that could be reconfigured in minutes, rather than days, as with traditional solutions.
  • Adapting content for diverse audiences (industry sectors, client challenges, partner conversations) without altering the physical space.
  • Ensuring visitors remember the narratives and emotions, not the screens or technical tools.

What problems or constraints did you encounter?

The biggest constraint was flexibility: How could the space transition from a presentation for the education sector to a demonstration for business partners without downtime or complex reconfiguration? It was also critical to ensure that technology enhanced the experience rather than distracted from it.

Solution

Why did you choose our solution among the available options?

The choice was made for a solution combining 7 synchronized VP330 video players:

  • 1 leader player connected to a touchscreen monitor in the meeting room.
  • 6 follower players, each connected to a monitor, distributed across 6 niches surrounded by light strips.

The leader player displays a customized web page for video selection. This always-up-to-date application allows users to select media loaded into the follower players. Media management is handled remotely via the Wavespark Cloud, providing complete autonomy.

The follower players trigger the correct content and activate their output relays to launch lighting scenarios, creating perfect immersion.

How was our solution implemented in your project?

Collaboration with MAV and Waves System was decisive. Their technical expertise and responsiveness helped transform an ambitious vision into an operational reality. Deployment was smooth, with the center’s teams quickly mastering the tools.

Which features or benefits of our product were most decisive for you?

  • Perfect synchronization between the VP330 players.
  • Centralized management via Wavespark Cloud, enabling instant updates.
  • Flexibility: Real-time reconfiguration of experiences without physical intervention.
  • Ease of use: The center’s teams can adapt content without relying on external providers.

Feedback

What concrete benefits have you observed since installing our solution?

Visitor feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. A senior technology leader from the higher education sector described the experience as:

“The highlight of their tour. While the space was enabled by technology, it never felt overwhelmed by it. Instead, they highlighted the immersive nature of the environment, its focus on user journeys and outcomes, and how the story-driven approach inspired new thinking within their own organization.”

Visitors also noted that:

Every element felt purposeful, the experience successfully connected technology to real-world outcomes, and the concept was highly transferable to a variety of organizational use cases.

How has our product contributed to improving the experience for your visitors and collaborators?

The platform has exceeded expectations in terms of capabilities and flexibility, but what’s most valued is that it enabled the creation of something far greater than a simple content management system. With Waves System and MAV, the center developed a digital canvas where every visit becomes a customized journey.

Visitors rarely talk about the screens, software, or infrastructure. Instead, they discuss the experience, the stories, and the outcomes. For us, that’s the ultimate measure of success.

If you had to recommend our solution, what would you say to someone who’s still hesitant?

I would recommend this solution for its ability to step back and let the user experience shine. The technology is there to serve the narrative and immersion, not to take center stage. It’s a tool that enables the creation of environments focused on people, journeys, and outcomes, rather than technology for its own sake.
